As you browse the Santa Cruz Valley AZ photo above you will be glad to know the valley includes many sites of interest. Included on I-19 are Green Valley. From there you can take Continental Road east to Madera Canyon, Mt Wright, Mt Hopkins. From Green Valley if you head south on I-19 toward the border you come to Amado, Tubac, Tumacacori. Then Rio Rico and Nogales. Going north from Green Valley you come to Sahuarita then the metropolis of Tucson. This is a good place for a vacation.

To the right and across the valley in the photo you can see the tailing dam of a large copper mine. To the left you can see the Baboquiveri Peak an unusually shaped mountain just south of Kitt Peak, famous for more than thirty telescopes.

Green Valley has a population of more than twenty thousand and is a known retirement area. Madera Canyon is in a national forest recreation area and home to more than 250 species of birds. Mt. Wrightson is 9,450 feet high and fun to climb but is a challenge for some. Mt. Hopkins is the home of the Whipple Observatory. At Amado you will find the Long Horn Grill. and at Tumacacori-Carmen is the home of a mission first built in 1691.

Rio Rico has a population of about 20,000. Nogales is about the same but Santa Cruz County is over 40,000. Just across the border is Nogales Sonora Mexico with a population of more 220,000. Much to see in the Santa Cruz Valley, If you travel east from Nogales you come to Patagonia Lake good for fishing, and birding, next the town of Patagonia. A little further you  arrive at the Sonoita area at just under 5,000 feet elevation with it wineries and horseback riding. You should visit southern Arizona soon.
